THINGS I'VE LEARNED ABOUT LIFE
My mom has always preached to me about praying for wisdom. When I left home for the first time, every letter she sent me closed with this line, "And, don't forget to pray for wisdom - Love Mom." She's a wise woman and she knew that true wisdom never stops learning. As I have aged, I've learned wisdom does come from God (James 1:5), and it also come from life. Experience is a great teacher and true wisdom arises from vulnerability. Here are a few things I learned about life after looking back...
- I learned that when you wave at people, they'll wave back. (Age 6)
- I learned that my Mom and Dad are the smartest people in the world. (Age 7)
- I learned you can't lie about shooting your brother with a slingshot and get away with it. (Age 9)
- I learned when you shoot a bb-gun in the house, mom will always find out. (Age 11)
- I learned that just when I got my room the way I like it, my Mom made me clean it up. (Age 12)
- I learned that my Mom and Dad weren't as smart as I thought they were. (Age 14)
- I learned that my Mom and Dad don't have a clue about life. (Age 16)
- I learned that I was secretly glad that my parents were hard on me. (Age 17)
- I learned that my Mom and Dad need me if they are to actually survive in this world. (Age 18)
- I learned that my Mom and Dad may be smarter than I've given them credit for these last few years. (Age 20)
- I learned that once again my Mom and Dad are the smartest people in the world. (Age 21)
- I learned that a sweet little brown haired, brown eyed girl named Lea can rock my world. (Age 22)
- I learned that having kids is cool and a lot of work. (Age 24)
- I learned that people are interested in learning about a God when I tell them how much He loves them. (Age 25)
- I learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers have followed me there. (Age 26)
- I learned that my dad is incredibly wise and should be sought for advice in every big decision that comes. (Age 27)
- I learned that playing catch in the backyard with my sons is one of life's greatest pleasures. (Age 29)
- I learned that you can tell a lot about a man's true character by the way he handles these three things: tangled Christmas lights, a bad call at his kid's athletic event and how he talks about his wife when she's not around. (Age 33)
- I learned that making a living and making a life are two different things. (Age 35)
- I learned that sometimes life gives you a second chance when cancer comes. (Age 37)
- I learned the value of sharing a touch and that everyday you should hold some one's hand, share a hug or a friendly pat on the back. (Age 39)
- I've learned that a sweet little brown haired, brown eyed girl named Lea still rocks my world. (Age 40)
- I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. (Age 41)
What are some things you've learned as you've experienced life?

I love that you listed the on and off realization of the intelligence of your parents. Mine get smarter every day so I understand.
Now, I am going to tell you like I tell Rocky. When everyone else seems like they are driving bad, maybe just maybe it is not everyone else.
I enjoyed this post and it makes me realize what I have learned (which may be to keep my trap shut about a man driving ha ha).
HOLY SMOKES YOUR 41?
Monica - You mean I might be the bad driver? Come on! :)
Zach - is that older or younger than you thought? (Careful now)
Trey, it is def. older than what I thought.. I didn't know you were pushing 40 .....
I've learned that I only thought I was having fun in my 20's. 40's rock!
Age 44
Preach on my Anonymous Brother (or Sister).
I've learned that I'm old!

I've learned that one of the best questions that you can hear when you are hurting is "Are you okay?"
I've learned that in difficult situations your real friends will do everything they can to build you up.
I've learned that I can learn a lot about happiness from my children.
I've learned that if you see crazy coming...cross the street!!!
I've learned in order to find true joy, you must be joyful for what you have at the very moment you are taking each breath and NOT place the assurance of joy on what might or might not happen. I learned that today.
I learned my best sermon was how I lived and treated others.
I learned that no matter which check out line or car lane I get in, the others suddenly all go faster ... especially the one I just left.
I learned that I really do need others to make it through this life.
I learned that a few others have decided they really need me to make it through this life!
Oh yes, one more - I learned that most of the issues that have divided us over the years and generations have very little to do with a relationship with Christ.
I have learned that life is nothing what I thought it would be...
...I have also learned to praise God everyday for that!
I have learn to enjoy life while you can because the next day may be the day when you might hear the words you dont.
Man, I'm feelin' the lesson about the bad drivers right now, I think they follow me too. In fact, one of them was following me a little too closely last night!
Thanks for sharing some of the stuff you've learned over the years!
Very recently, I learned that:
-I have to trust God.
-Satan is very real.
-God is bigger than anything.
-Prayer works.
-It's okay to ask for help.
-God gives second chances.
-Some of the worst things that have happened in my life have had the best results because of God's plans.
-My plans stink.
-It feels great to have a church family.
-God sends people through our lives to influence us,encourage us, redirect us, or just hold our hands along the way.
-Even when I can't seem to feel it, God is still there.
-God is not about punishment. He is about love.
Ooo ... you guys are wise! I like these little nuggets of wisdom. :)

I've learned that life is good because God is good... and that He will make it better than good - yes, perfect - some day!
Other bits -
change always happens
it's great to breathe
kids - gotta love 'em
God knows best
a husband is a true friend
if you don't get older, you die
every day is a new beginning
keep learning
I've learned that my plans are not God's plans and I have to adapt.
Pray for what I want, but the answer may not be an easy path-still so worth it!
Keep moving and keep breathing-not enough to get me thru tough times. Leaning on God, prayer, and love from a great husband can get me thru anything.
