MONDAY MORNING REFLECTIONS
- I haven't felt like blogging or doing much else all weekend. Most of all, I hate not getting to preach. I missed preaching yesterday for the first time in a long time due to being sick. I appreciate having Nate, our youth minister, who does a fantastic job filling in. Hey, do you think they'll allow me an extra long sermon next Sunday to make up for missing this week?
- Nothing makes you get out of bed faster than the sound of a child, who's in bed next to you, making an I'm-about-to-throw-up gagging noise. Last night I went from a dead-to-the-world sleep to standing wide awake in the middle of the room in a half a millisecond at that horrible sound. Poor Cooper wound up being sick most the night. I think they need to make an alarm clock that makes the sound of a kid about to be sick. When it goes off you'd be out of bed in a flash. Now that'd get up you up and going.
- I can't get over what an amazing Super Bowl it was yesterday. I was just hoping for a good game and not a blowout, but to get a Giant last second win? Wow, what a dream come true not having to hear about the "perfect" Patriots. Nearly everyone I know was pulling for the Giants. Not sure if they were Giant fans or just people not wanting the Patriots to go 19-0. Who would have ever thought the Giants could beat the unbeatable Patriots? (Brian did pick the Giants). This Super Bowl may go down as the biggest upset in history. It was definitely one of my favorites.
- As for the half-time show? It was kind of bland and forgettable. I couldn't help but look at Tom Petty and think, "Please, no wardrobe malfunction!"
- It took till the 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl to finally get a commercial that I thought was hilarious. I laughed and laughed when I saw it, then I rewound it and laughed at it again. My favorite? See it here.
- On a more serious note ... You owe it to yourself to stop by Danny Dodd's blog and read his article on "Just be the Church."

oh and u 2 !
love the alarm clock idea.
sorry kids are sick. that is never fun, and being sick together is no fun.
yea Giants.
the only commercial that really made me laugh was the baby E-trade commercials.
I think I feel sorry for Lea!!! :P
My kids *cracked up* at the baby e-trade commercials. I *cracked up* at my kids cracking up!!!
You know it felt weird cheering for the Giants. I wondered if my great grandmother was rolling over in her grave.
Liked the Doritos commercial best as well.
Praying for Connor.
Hey Trey - what was your favorite commercial? Our laptops blocked access to your link. My fave...probably the Budweiser Clydesdale being trained by the dalmatian to the Rocky theme! Awesome...and I always get a kick out of Will Ferrell...though I'm not sure what he was advertising. Hope you're feeling better soon and hope your little one isn't throwing up any longer. Have a good Monday.

Our Sunday school party also laughed at the baby e-Trade commercials...esp the one with the baby puking...WELL, and the baby with the "creepy" clown behind him.
Stomach bugs are the worse. Then you have to sit around the next few days waiting for the next one to go and it is always in the middle of the night. I asked Cody why it always happened at night thinking I would get a medical reason. He said because you lay down and it just comes out. Great answer. I hope everyone else stays well.
I liked the baby commercials too. My favorite was the Doritos commercial where the giant mouse came busting through the wall and attacked the guy for the bag of Doritos.
Sorry about the sickness. Hope things are better by now.
I liked the fire breath commercial. Funny.
Thanks for the blog mention.
Trey - Don't hate on Jackson's manfuction! It was an accident remember...
I will pray for you to feel better.

I was jamming all over the living room during the half-time show, but then I've loved Tom Petty as long as I can remember. Good song selection (although since Stevie Nicks lives in Arizona, you'd think he could have begged her to come sing Stop Draggin' My Heart Around) and great musicianship. This was WAY better than the Mccartney half-time show.
And hopefully, we're done hearing Eli treated like Steve Pelleur (how's THAT for a blast from the past, you Cowboys fans?)
Nick
Just wanted to tell you and Cooper I hope you get well soon. No fun being sick, especially upset stomach sick.
My son and I were rooting for the Patriots. My son is a fan because of Tom Brady (he played at Michigan), and I was rooting against Eli "If I get drafted by San Diego I'll take my ball and go home" Manning. I still haven't forgiven him for that selfish, diva-like move. It would have been poetic justice for San Diego to make the Super Bowl and beat Eli and the Giants. Oh well, we live in a fallen world.
Hope you and the family get well soon.
I enjoyed the rat/chip commercial too. But my favorite was the "pretty" woman that used cashew nuts as perfume to attract men. I hope Cooper is better today. I sure hope the wind doesn't blow your germs this directions.
Love you 2-3-6,
Monalea
I don't think it is actually possible, but I believe I have caught your cold from reading your blog.
I'm with you on the gagging sound. A friend of mine's 3 year old died recently, and it seems like it makes me a little more susceptible to concern for my 2 year old who is currently sick.
Whoever invents the gagging alarm clock will make a million in a month.
hey trey. . .watched the entire thing in spanish. apparently mike's "team" is the giants (hilarious for a guy who's watched like five games in his entire life and probably all in tulia), didn't you think the carrier pigeons were funny? i couldn't help thinking tom looked healthier and BLONDER than ever (he's usually so gaunt, i saw him in concert when i was 13) i woke up to the barfing kid twice last night. . . and finally who's this 30 year old michigan man seeking wife? i have a sister, but she sometimes stops by here, so i guess i should be careful!
