it has been months since I have had a donut and there are DD on every corner in NJ.

mine are french fries. Five Guys, specifically. they are my comfort food.

my wife is the donutaholic. the day before taking the test for gestational diabetes, she wanted one last visit to DD.

Lust is like a "Krispy Kreme" first bite and it tastes good then "You" get the bill!

A Monte Cristo from Bennigans

Doug, I've never heard anyone else say they love Monte Cristos. We don't have a Bennigans, but I love them from Boston Beanery -- or a cool little place in Solvang, CA, when I go visit my grandparents. They serve theirs with raspberry preserves. Yum! I like making them too, but I'm the only one in my family that will eat them, so it's too much effort for one little sandwich.

Oh yeah, back to your question, Trey - (o; - sweet food is my weakness. Chocolate, pie, cake, cookies, brownies, donuts ... yum!!! I always save room for dessert. And I love breakfast that tastes like dessert. :o)

Guitar Center. But the very best donut (IMHO) is not found at KK, though when those puppies are hot out of the grease, they do have an amazing taste. The best is a regular glazed donut which is then coated w/ the chocolate icing!!

Starbucks is my weakness.
Having a Venti Carmel Breve Latte.

I took our three young boys to Krispy Kreme and they had so much fun wearing the hats and watching the donuts being made. Oh, yeah and eating the hot donuts that they handed out. Yummy. It melts in your mouth. Every time we go to San Antonio we have stop at Krispy Kreme.

Trey,
I hope you have a blessed weekend brother!

To quote one of my favorite preachers, "That reminded me of a song".

My weakness? You probably don't want me to start on that list. Maybe it starts with not seeing my intertest in donuts and pizza as a weakness.

From a food perspective, my potato soup. I don't make it often because you would have to move me out of the house with a crane if I did, but it involves heavy cream, two kinds of cheese (in the soup), two kinds of cheese (to go on the soup), bacon, chopped green onions, and grated celery and carrots in with the potatoes (to make you feel slightly better about the cream, cheese, and bacon). Then there's the obligatory hot and crusty bread.

Mmmmmmm. Soup.

My tongue is still hanging out just over the picture of the donuts. If and when we have to go somewhere I see every donut place on the road. I rarely get one. I also love home made cookies and most all sweets. How about those D.Q. blizzards? Once when I was real sick and had lost so much weight my doctor said if I would eat blizzards go for it. He retired and never did tell me it was time to quit. gmj

Dude... that's just wrong. I'm a gazillion miles from a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts.... and THIS is the picture I see first thing in the morning.

There was a time in my life when I could eat a dozen Kremes without thinking twice.

At 1:50 PM, Blogger TREY MORGAN said...

Sorry Philip ... you come visit me and I promise we'll sit down together and have a dozen "hot-ones" each!!!

my hometown also has a local donut place that is awesome, and it is conveniently located walking distance from Chong's, the best chinese food in the states

OOPS!

I forgot Coffee Heath Bar Crunch Ben and Jerry's. WOW. My mouth just watered up thinking about it.

And that KK picture? That's like porn for donut-a-holics.

At 5:05 PM, OpenID blogprophet said...

maybe I should have said, "rolling distance"

Red's Donuts and Chong's.

At 5:36 PM, Blogger mmlace said...

Oh, Trey, you are the DEVIL for making me want a donut now!

Would you believe that there's a Krispy Kreme not more than A MILE AND A HALF from my apartment...it's w/in walking distance!

Hey...maybe that's the answer...I can have a donut whenever I want, but I have to walk there and back to get one!

That works. That helps me want one a little bit less.

At 5:40 PM, Blogger Haley said...

I'm totally a french fry person!! Though one can't go wrong with some Krispy Kream doughnuts! Our Krispy Kreams all closed down in this area probably about a year ago, very sad but very good seeing as I live right down the street from where it once was!

At 7:03 PM, Anonymous Lightening said...

*sob* Can you believe I have NEVER had a Krispy Kremes donut???? I think they're available in Australia but nowhere even close to where we live (by about 2000km).

At 9:09 PM, Blogger Cornelius Crew said...

After reading the other comments, I realized I have lots of weaknesses... homemade ice cream, starbucks, homemade chocolate pie, your parent's homemade bread ( papa bread as we call it)... i could go on and on!

At 10:42 PM, Blogger David Kirk said...

Blogging and laziness are my weaknesses...

At 11:43 PM, Blogger WendyC said...

Lightening, I have never had one either. And we do have them in Sydney! Nicola says they are disgusting lol

My weakness is dark chocolate. Organic preferably.

At 2:31 AM, Blogger Baptist Man said...

Oh my word...as soon as your blog came up on my screen and the KK's were staring me in the face, my mouth started watering.

Why did you have to do that?

At 7:23 AM, Blogger TREY MORGAN said...

Lightening & Wendy - No Krispy Kreme in Australia? I think it's time for us to mail you a care package. Only problem is I'm not sure they'd be as good 3 weeks later.

mmlace - I can't imagine being in walking distance to a KK! I think the Lord knows that'd be more than I can handle. :)

Brian - Chinese and donuts. Nice combination!

Dixie - Papa bread is good stuff!

you'd think after 50+ years, i'd be tired of my "gotta have 'em candy"...nope!!! plain M & M's...still

Blue Bunny Blackberry Cobbler ice cream.

I've only had it once,(I can't find it again), but I still salivate like Pavlov's dogs just thinking of it.

Bet it would go well with a Krispy Kreme!

I like too many things to list, that's my problem. In the donut world though, there are three top contenders:

1) Delta Cream Donuts in Cleveland MS. Locally owned... go in and hurt yourself.

2) Krispy Kremes are hard to beat - especially when hot.

3) Shipley Donuts are awesome. And they are available in the new town to which I have moved.

But for today, a donut would kill me. (Read my blog if you don't know).

Reading everyone's comments reminded me of something I learned a long time ago. Usually our weaknesses have a flip side that is a strength.

Example: I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut when there is a "wrong" to point out. Yet, pointing one out, if I can tame my tongue, is part of God's calling on my life. Learning to pick my battles carefully is a concept I learned raising my two boys!

At 6:52 PM, Blogger Chandra said...

OH KRISPY KREME!! That was so mean of you to put that under the "sin" topic. Ouch! Half a box in one sitting could not be considered gluttony, right, that's just for the whole box?;)

3 dozen KK donuts shared by 4 people, 2 of them children, is just about right.
