2009 MLB PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS
It was a good year for the Rangers. They did better than anyone expected, but still came up a little short in the end. I'm thinking the Rangers should have bought the Morgan family season tickets, because they didn't lose a single game that we attended. They could have gone undefeated for the season! :)

I'm looking forward to the baseball playoffs starting this week. Here are my predictions for the 2009 baseball playoffs...

1st ROUND:
  • Angels over the Red Sox - Angels just have too many weapons.
  • Yankees over the Twins - Yankees have too many weapons, because they buy them.
  • Cardinals over the Dodgers (sorry Tiff) - Pujols + Halliday + good pitching = series win.
  • Phillies over the Rockies - As much as I'd love for the Phillies to loose, I just don't see it happening.
ALCS:
  • Yankees over the Angels - Again, the Yankees win because of the players they've bought.
  • Cardinals over the Phillies - The Cards pitching makes the difference in this one.
WORLD SERIES:
  • Cardinals over the Yankees - Once again proving to the world that underdogs can still pull it out. Oh, and their pitching is better than the Yankees.
How do you see the baseball playoffs going?

I agree with everything, except the way you talk about the yankees, they bought them because they have the money to do it. So don't judge them because they have gotten players because they have the money.

And i believe the yanks will win it all. They have great pitching this year.

Dude, that is my dream world series right there! I think the Angels have to beat the Red Sox some time... chance says they can't get knocked out by them every year... but I'm afraid this year isn't it.

And as much as I'm hoping the Yankees make it to the Series, just so the Cards can beat them, I wouldn't bet against the Twins this year.

I'll be rooting though, exactly how you called it.

Anonymous - Sorry about smashing on the Yankees like that. There just needs to be some kind of salary cap in baseball. Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Microsoft and big business to me :) lol

Whoever I root for will lose. Not a pessimistic bone in my bone, I just have a way of choosing losers.

Well you got most of it right, except for the Red Sox. All of their pitching staff is finally healthy and they added many weapons throughout the season for defense (which is much cheaper than the yankees way of acquiring people)and you keep referencing that just because the yanks spent a lot of money then they default to the World Series, if that was the case then they would have double the WS rings.

And lets not forget the Angels have a very hard time getting by the Sox regardless how great their team is...they always have a team that is better but sox always seem to win, I think pitching is the key in that series and I personally believe the Sox's pitching is better..a great closer is key and the Anegels got rid of theirs in the offseason.

Ao now that we are on the same page that Red Sox move on to meet the Yankees in the ALCS...At the beginning of the season Red Sox won the first 8 games of their series (when pitching was healthy)and I have watched CC choke in the playoffs just as bad as A-Rod. His ERA just skyrockets in the playoffs. The yankees have few players now that have winning postseason experience. They keep adding to their roster players who have little postseason experience, and their manager doesnt have any post season experience either. You might think i am yankee bashing but they do have one of my favorite players, Nick Swisher...he is from my hometown and I love to follow him
and now hopefully you are enlightened about the Sox beating the yanks.

I'm just trying to make a case for the Sox since you made an early playoff elimination for them.

and the Cards and Phils wont play in the ALCS ;) I believe that again that Philly has better pitching over the Cards.

I think the Phillies have a great chance of repeating.

I know you love baseball...but I just don't like it, so I'm just letting you know that I didn't read your blog today!! :)

Ok now. I think you got the Sox all wrong. Beckett is ready to show what hes got and so are the other pitchers. The only way the Angels are going to beat them is if something happens to the pitching.
Lets say Sox beat the Angels then they beat the Twins (who I would love see win over the Yankees). Then we go on to beat the Cardinals in the 7th game! Thats my hope. Can't wait for it to start!

Anonymous - keep rooting for the Yankees!

You Red Sox fans dream big :) The have been SO inconsistent the past month. They played good ball the last week of the season, but the Angles have played good ball the last two months. Just don't see the Red Sox pitching pulling them through.

Lana ... thanks for the smile.

I know this unprofessional but I agree with you as well. Unless Kershaw is lights out and Ethier and Manny starting hitting we are doomed.

And as soon as the season is over I will write you a long email! I've had a draft going for several weeks but its been madness.

Love ya, Tiff

Tiff - I was sure hoping you'd stop by today. That's why I left you the little note. I've missed visiting with you. Looking forward to hearing from you. :)

Well I think Angels will defeat NY and the Cardinals will win it all. But what do I know...I thought Texas could be still playing right now...or was that a dream?

Absolutely no confidence in the twins??? Come on guys, they will win the Yankees. They have the Minnesota attitude!

My team is the Rockies. Born and raised in Colorado. Loyal fan all the way - which stands in the face of all predictions!

I'm going out on a limb and say Dodgers vs Yankees. Dodgers will it all.
