BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK YOUR KIDS, BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT LIKE THEIR ANSWER
Here is a conversation between my son Cooper (2nd Grade) and I, on the way to school this morning...Cooper: "Good."
Me: "How many accelerated reader points do you have now?"
Cooper: "Fifty-something points. I've lost count."
Me: "Awesome Coop! That's a TON of points. I'm proud of how well you're doing at school. How did you ever get so smart?"
Cooper: "I got my smarts from Mom." I noticed a half grin and that he'd cut his eyes around at me to see my reaction to his answer. (I'm wondering if Lea has been coaching him on this answer or if he came by this conclusion naturally.)
Me (doing my best to keep a straight face): "Okay, so if you got your smarts from Mom, then maybe you got your incredible good-looks from me. Right?"
Cooper: (no quick answer this time as he thinks while opening the door to the pickup): "Huh, I'll have to think on that one, Dad."
Me: "What, no answer?"
Cooper: "Gotta go. Love you, Dad."
Me: "Love you too, Coop."
Who knows, maybe he didn't want to hurt my feelings. :) I do know that I love being a dad.

Thankfully, my kids got very little from me in my lack of smarts and looks department.
Josh looks like his maternal grandfather and Jessica looks like my Mom's side of the family. They are both very smart, so that certainly came from their mother.

I'll say that Cooper got his great looks, great personality and great humor from his Mom....AND his Dad! :) You and Lea are awesome people with awesome kids! Thanks for sharing them with us!
Sometimes kids can be brutally honest.My own son, who is in the 4th grade, isn't afraid to tell it how it is. ;-)

cooper got his smarts from mom, and maybe even his good looks too, but his quick wit (and honesty:)). . .all YOU trey!!!
I just know that he is a beautiful child, and has the sweetest smile. I am not real objective since he comes from my family, also. Mom
How funny! I would say that whatever he "got" from you has to be something good since you are good through and through!
My favourite comeback to those kinds of comments "is course the kids got their god looks from me--my wife still has hers!"
He sure got your good looks!
