COLTS, baby!!!! I have been a huge Colts fan ever since Hunter "the punter" Smith (who is a church camp friend from way back!) began playing for them. Sadly, he is now with the Redskins, but I am still a massive Colts fan and will be pulling for them next week!

I am ready for baseball season, too! :)

My iTouch has been a life saver in China-translator, iPod (of course!), ability to bypass the Great Firewall of China and log on twitter & of course, has developed the new addiction of Words with Friends!! I love it and am so grateful for the help it brings here!!

I told you...just develop an awesome Scottish/west Texas/Spanish accent and you will have it made! I might even come back all the way from China to hear that ;)

Tim is right...I took 2 years of Spanish, but didn't really "get" it until I actually lived in Mexico, was immersed in the language and culture and had a Spanish teacher helping me out. Pace yourself-you will get it! Try learning Chinese and Spanish will seem like a breeze! ;) I keep wanting to talk in Spanish here when I should be talking in Chinese! People who speak multiple languages do amaze me!

Trey, thanks for the response. I aprreciate the input truly. But I read the other post. I have no time now to really respond but would love to at some point, not about movies per se but on the whole, "In the world, not of the world" idea and "becoming all things to all men." It is a crucial subject because there are a lot of casualties on the front line of any war and our INTERFACE with the world is a front line that should not be approached casually. The devil is playing for keeps. I believe in being offensive as opposed to defensive but what you describe in your post feels like fraternizing with the enemy. My son is in college and has NO IDEA who Miley Cyrus is. He's never seen her cleavage and doesn't know a single U2 song. But he is already making a large impact for Jesus on his campus because he walks in a real love for Jesus and not in some fundamental stiffness. Jesus really overflowing in a life is a MUCH MORE effective tool than knowing who the latest American Idol is.

Anonymous - I thought Avitar was great. I really didn't notice any of their features, clothing, etc. I did remember saying to Lea when it was over, "Wow, the blue people were ripped (muscular)." I totally agree about protecting your heart with the movies you watch, music we listen to and people we hang out with. There have been PG13 movies that Lea and I have walked out on because of the movie being too much for us to take. There have been other movies that we SHOULD have walked out on, but sadly didn't. Avitar was not one of those movies. I don't believe in cutting myself off from the world, but I also know I need to protect myself from the world. Jesus prayed that his disciples would be "in the world," but not "of the world." I did do a post about secular music and movies that might help. It's here.

Trey, I'm totaling asking in sincerity. In terms of Avatar, did the blue natives running around in loin clothes present any temptations? I really try to avoid movies with excessive cleavage or love scenes, etc. which leaves only a few, but I find it important to honor Jesus with my eyes and my heart. I promise you I am no legalist but I do protect myself and those I care about from the seeds of the world. Reviews I've read and even short previews I've seen make it seem unworkable for men who are trying to keep their hearts pure for Jesus. What's your take? Movies in general? Jesus said lust is adultery and it seems to me that many believers these days have no problems hanging out (literally) in swimsuits (wet underwear) and watching immodesty in movies and tv and such.

About Spanish: I learned little from Spanish at school and was driven to despair by trying to learn from a book/cassette combo. Then I went to Argentina and learned tonses (that's the plural of tons) in 2 months.

My advice: get some basic concepts under your belt, then plan on learning a bunch when you get to Honduras. Warn your travel companions that you plan to be obnoxious about the language, refusing to speak in English unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. When possible, isolate yourself from anyone who knows English, go off with Spanish speakers and force yourself to learn.

You can probably even find some Spanish speakers to help you in Childress. Learn to say, "I'm trying to learn Spanish. Please let me practice with you." If they're immigrants, you might even work out an exchange: one day you do all in Spanish, one day all in English (to help them).

Baseball - I'm as excited as you are about the season starting. Reminded me that I need to update my MLB audio package. Since Cubs play so many day games, I get to listen at work.

Classes - Not taking anything per se, but studying for my architectural licensing exam which is seven tests so I feel your pain. It's like climbing a mountain and I'm still at the bottom.
